The GYRI Forum brings together high school, undergraduate, and graduate students worldwide to present interdisciplinary STEAM research, AI & app innovation, and engineering solutions addressing real-world challenges in health, education, sustainability, technology, and society.

The 2026 Global Youth Research & Innovation (GYRI) Forum brings together high school, undergraduate, and graduate students worldwide to present interdisciplinary STEM research, AI & app innovation, and engineering solutions addressing real-world challenges in health, sustainability, technology, and society. Co-hosted by National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan), Amazing Grace Institute (AGI), and UC San Diego OPALS, the forum reflects a strong international partnership across education, research, and innovation ecosystems .

International Academic Platform: Share your innovations with a global audience of peers and professionals.
Research Mentorship: All submissions benefit from a research review process, helping students refine their work to professional standards.
Scholarly Visibility: Accepted abstracts will be publicly archived with a DOI through figshare and featured on the OPALS and AGI websites.
Publication Opportunities: Selected presenters from the Research Symposium Track will be invited to submit full manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication in a special issue of a National Tsing Hua University–affiliated journal.

🔹Engineering & Systems Design: Mechanical, electrical, and biomedical engineering and systems modeling .


🔹AI for Environmental & Sustainability Solutions: Climate modeling, sustainability analytics, and environmental monitoring .


🔹Biomedical Imaging & Instrumentation: Advanced imaging technologies and sensing systems .

🔹AI in Education: Focused on STEAM innovation, data-driven learning insights to discover performance patterns, and intelligent tutoring systems.


🔹AI & App Innovation for Human Empowerment: AI-powered mobile applications, assistive technologies, and digital solutions for social impact .


🔹AI Ethics, Security & Responsible Innovation: AI safety, data privacy, fairness, and ethical deployment .

Abstract Acceptance Criteria

Each abstracts will be evaluated based on the following key criteria:

The Forum Committee expects all submissions to meet the following standards:

  • Originality: Describe original research or innovation not previously published.

  • Evidence-Based: Represent completed or near-completed studies with sufficient data to support conclusions.

  • Clarity: Clearly articulate methodology, results, and evidence-based conclusions.

  • Developmental Review: Authors must engage with the committee's feedback and revise their work until it meets the required threshold. Abstracts describing planned work only (e.g., “data will be collected”) or those that do not meet quality standards after review will not be accepted .

Abstract Formatting Guidelines

To ensure your submission is considered for review, please adhere strictly to the following requirements.

1. Title & Authors

  • Title Length: Maximum 100 characters.

  • Title Formatting: Avoid using all capital letters; use standard scientific capitalization.

  • Author Limit: A maximum of 5 authors may be listed per abstract.

  • Affiliations: You must include the institutional affiliation(s) for every author listed.
     

2. Abstract Structure & Limits

  • Main Body Limit: Maximum 1,000 characters (including spaces).

  • Required Structure: The main body must follow a structured format with these four headings :

  1. Introduction

  2. Methods

  3. Results

  4. Conclusions

  • Content Policy: Abstracts describing planned work only (e.g., “data will be collected”) will not be accepted.

3. Additional Required Sections
In addition to the main body, you must provide the following:

  • Purpose or Primary Outcome: A brief statement of the study's goal (Maximum 500 characters).

  • Research or Innovation Gap: Clearly state the specific gap addressed by your work (Maximum 500 characters).

4. Figures (Optional)

  • Quantity: Maximum 2 figures per abstract.

  • Placement: One figure must be related to Methods and one to Results.

  • Technical Specs:

    • Formats: JPG, PNG, or GIF.

    • File Size: Maximum 10 MB.

    • Resolution: Maximum 1,000 pixels (height or width).

  • Captions: Figure captions must be embedded within the image file itself.

5. References & Citations

  • Quantity: Maximum 5 references.

  • Style: Use AMA (American Medical Association) style.

  • Ordering: Number your references in the order they are cited.

  • In-text Citations: Use superscript Arabic numerals (e.g., Resulting data shows...¹).

📢 Abstract Submission & Applicant Registration: June 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM PST.​

  • For Abstract Applicants: This is the mandatory deadline for anyone applying to share their research or innovation.

  • Required Action: By this date, all applicants must complete the following:

    • Submit Abstract: Upload your work for review and pay the USD $50 non-refundable abstract submission fee per project.

    • Register & Pay: Every student author in the team must register and pay the USD $100 Registration Fee.

  • Note: Abstract review begins only after the submission fee and the registration fees for all team members are confirmed.

📢 Forum Invitation Announcement: June 21, 2026, at 11:59 PM PST.

  • Selection Notification: The Forum Committee will notify all abstract applicants via email regarding their selection status.

  • Invitations: Applicants whose work meets the quality threshold will receive a formal invitation to become a Forum Presenter.

  • Presentation Formats: Invitations will specify whether the work is assigned to an oral presentation, poster session, or innovation showcase.

📢 Forum Registration Deadline: July 10, 2026, at 11:59 PM PST.​

  • For Attendees: This is the deadline for students, guests, or observers who wish to attend the forum without applying to present work.

  • Fee: General attendees must complete their registration and pay the USD $100 registration fee by this date.

📢 July 18, 2026 (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM) — 2026 GYRI Forum

  • Event: A full day of interdisciplinary STEM research and AI innovation at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

  • Location: La Jolla, California, USA.

  • Package: All registered participants will receive a registration package, which includes a light lunch.

Fee Summary for Applicants

  • Individual Applicant: USD $150 ($50 Submission Fee + $100 Registration Fee).

  • Research Team (e.g., 3 Students): USD $350 ($50 Submission Fee + $100 Registration Fee x 3).

  • General Attendee: USD $100 (Registration Fee only).

Payment instructions will be provided upon registration form completion.

How to Participate?

Becoming a part of the 2026 GYRI Forum is an iterative process designed to support student innovation and academic excellence.

Step 1: Register Online

Every individual attending the forum, whether applying to present or attending as a guest, must complete the official registration form.

  • For Abstract Applicants: You must complete your individual registration and fee payment by June 1, 2026.

  • For General Attendees: Registration remains open until July 10, 2026.

Step 2: Submit Fees

The fee structure is designed to cover the event experience and the Professional Review & Mentorship Service.

  • Forum Registration Fee: USD $100 per participant.

    • This covers full access to the forum on July 18, 2026, and includes a light lunch .

  • Abstract Submission Fee: USD $50 per project/abstract.

    • This fee is non-refundable and covers the Professional Review & Mentorship Service.

Team Size & Fee Policy:

  • Maximum Team Size: Research teams are limited to a maximum of 5 students per project. * Individual Registration: Every student member in the team must register individually and pay the USD $100 registration fee to participate.

  • Single Submission Fee: The team pays only one USD $50 abstract submission fee for the entire project.

Step 3: Upload Your Abstract

Submit your work through the online portal following the Detailed Abstract Requirements.

  • Deadline: June 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM PST.

  • Eligibility: Submissions are open to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students.

  • Requirement: Each abstract must list at least one student author and one research mentor.

Step 4: Professional Review & Refinement

Once the submission fee and registration for all team members are confirmed, your abstract will undergo a Developmental Review.

  • Mentorship Process: Our committee provides iterative, professional feedback to help you refine your methodology and clarity.

  • Quality Standard: We work with you through a revision cycle until your work meets the forum’s rigorous academic standards .

Step 5: Invitation & Presentation

Following the review, the committee will issue final notifications on June 21, 2026.

  • Forum Presenters: Applicants whose abstracts meet the quality threshold will receive a formal invitation to present at the forum .

  • Formats: Successful applicants will be assigned to either an Oral Presentation, Poster Session, or Innovation Showcase (AI/App Track) .

Recognition, Awards & Academic Opportunities

We believe every serious research effort deserves professional recognition. The GYRI Forum provides multiple tiers of academic acknowledgement to support your future success:

🏆Certificate of Abstract Recognition: Every applicant who submits an abstract will receive an official digital certificate acknowledging the academic merit of their work and their contribution to the global research cycle.

🏆Certificate of Forum Invitation: Applicants whose work meets the quality threshold after the review process will receive a formal invitation and a certificate designating them as an official 2026 GYRI Forum Presenter.

🏆Journal Publication & Editorial Recommendation: Highly ranked submissions from the Research Symposium track will be invited to expand their work into full manuscripts. These papers will be recommended for peer-reviewed publication in well-known international journals, including a dedicated special issue of a National Tsing Hua University–affiliated journal.
🏆Digital Academic Archive (DOI): All accepted abstracts will be publicly archived with a unique DOI (Digital Object Identifier) via Figshare, ensuring long-term visibility, scholarly impact, and formal citation value for the students' work.
